Pinarello adds X endurance bike to its Dogma range
Pinarello is best known for its success in Grand Tour racing with Ineos Grenadiers, but this new Dogma X has been designed from the ground up for the rigours of the real world.

Pinarello Dogma X incorporates wider tyre clearance and all-new geometry to create a bike aimed at non pros
Pinarello has announced the newest member of the Dogma family with the inclusion of the Dogma X, an endurance road bike that has been designed for riders outside of the World Tour. With room for high-volume tyres and a new geometry, the Dogma X looks to follow the trend of endurance road bikes that are encroaching on all-road territory.
Designed for comfort
Endurance road bikes are all about long, all-day rides that don’t leave you sore and broken the next day. Pinarello has used a two-pronged approach to create a bike that maximises comfort, no matter the length of the ride.
Firstly, it has designed the Dogma X around the demands of the ‘every day’ rider who is looking for a bike that is capable of more than just long road kilometres. The frame and fork have clearance for 35mm tyres, which is more than enough for some light gravel riding. This also allows the rider to run a lower tyre pressure that will give more vertical compliance, taking the harshness out of rough roads and increasing puncture resistance.
Pinarello has also looked at how it can make the frame more compliant without the need for overcomplicated solutions, like that of the Pinarello K9S that featured an elastomer suspension unit at the junction between the seatstays and the seatpost. Instead Pinarello has opted for what it is calling ‘X-stays’, "to absorb vibrations without sacrificing frame weight or BB stiffness".

The new X-stays use a narrower gauge tube profile at the junctions to the seatpost to offer compliance and dampening
These X-stays have been designed with a specific carbon layup and a reduced diameter in the top section to offer vibration-damping qualities. The most eye-catching design feature of the X-stays is the double attachment points to the seatpost; Pinarello claims that this will dampen road noise more than with a traditional design.
All-new carbon from Toray
Pinarello has continued its long-standing partnership with global carbon fibre giants Toray with the Dogma X, using T1100K carbon fibre to create a frame that offers the ultimate lightness to stiffness ratio.
Alongside the carbon fibre that Pinarello has selected, it has also remained true to its roots with an asymmetrical design that is reportedly ideal for balancing the forces on the bike between the drive and non-drive side profiles of the bike.
Endurance geometry
The Dogma X is not a remake of a World Tour race bike; it has been specifically developed for the endurance purpose it looks to serve. One of the key attributes to this is the new ‘endurance’ geometry that sits firmly in between the more relaxed ‘endurance+’ platform and the racier geometry of the Dogma F.

The new geometry allows riders to run less spacers under the stem, increasing control and safety
The brand is marketing the new endurance geometry as "a fresh approach that strikes the perfect balance between high-calibre performance and real-world comfort." Interestingly, Pinarello has highlighted the concerns around riders using a race geometry bike with lots of spacers to get the bike to fit, something that we have recently covered on the tech clinic.
Having lots of spacers underneath the stem creates a larger leverage ratio on the fork steerer, causing stress and flex at the bars. The endurance geometry looks to reduce this issue for most riders.
Spec, pricing and availability
The Dogma X will be available to order immediately through your local Pinarello dealer and will be offered with all of the big three groupset manufacturers' top-tier groupsets. There is a choice of either DT Swiss ERC 1400 wheels or Princeton Grit 4540 for the Dura-Ace Di2 and Sram Red AXS equipped models, plus Campagnolo Bora WTO 33 wheels for the Super Record EPS model.

Pinarello has also added two extra bikes to its X Series range, namely the X5 and the X7 that occupy a lower price point than the Dogma X, using lower-grade carbon and mid-tier components to achieve this overall lower cost.

- Pinarello X7 Ultegra Di2 - £7,200
- Pinarello Dogma X frameset - £5,400
