Canyon's endurance platform has become more versatile than ever

German brand Canyon has today launched its new Endurace CFR and CF SLX ranges, the latest offering for long-distance riding and what they claim is their "fastest ever endurance bike".

Canyon’s Aeroad CFR and Ultimate CFR models are already the race-winning machines of choice for WorldTour teams like Alpecin-Deceuninck and Movistar, and the new range will bring the race bikes' engineering to endurance models for the first time.

A bike for every road

The Endurace has long been Canyon’s staple offering for the endurance road market, with the bike featuring more relaxed geometry and larger tyre clearance to racier alternatives.

This new version of the Endurace sees things take another step forward as a bike to tackle adventurous road rides. We are starting to see the lines between endurance road bike and gravel bike blend even further with this iteration that can accept up to 35mm-wide tyres.

The new VCLS 2.0 seatpost builds on the original split-post design allowing for up to 20mm of compliance at the saddle. This has been designed to act like a leaf spring to dampen out road buzz and harshness for riders.

Aero matters

Similarly to the Speedmax CFR that Canyon released ahead of the World Championships in Glasgow, the Endurace has been optimised in collaboration with Swiss Side. The new frame sports a narrower frontal profile achieved by a narrower head tube, thinner fork profile, and newly shaped down tube.

These changes result in a claimed seven-watt saving over the outgoing model. Canyon are making these aerodynamic tweaks in the name of efficiency rather than speed gain, with their rationale "to take riders further with less effort".

Cut-free adjustability

The Endurace uses a system to allow for cockpit adjustability without needing to cut and permanently alter the set-up. The CP0018 aero cockpit allows 40mm of width adjustment and 15mm of height adjustment without the need to cut the bars or steerer.

Integrated storage

A trend that has become almost unanimous amongst mountain bike design is storage inside the frame of the bike. This allows for essentials to be held in the bike's frame allowing for bag-free riding and keeping more things off of the rider.

The Endurace has carried this trend over to the endurance road bike with what they are calling the LOAD top tube storage. Large enough for a CO2 inflator, Canyon’s own three-in-one multitool, and slim tyre levers, it could mean saddlebags are a thing of the past.

Pricing

The Endurace will have two tiers to choose from, CF SLX and CFR. Some noteworthy models across the lineup include:

Endurace CF SLX 7 AXS - £3849/€3999

Endurace CF SLX 8 - £3999/€4199

Endurace CFR di2 - £8999/€9499

The complete line-up of bikes will be available from Tuesday August 15.
