Indoor training software MyWhoosh has been revealed as the official partner to the UCI road world championships for three years starting this year. The news adds to MyWhoosh’s growing reputation after it was previously announced as the host for the e-sports world championships for three years starting in 2024.

With this news, the UCI has also announced that the virtual training platform will be the exclusive host of the World Championship routes and courses, allowing users to test themselves on replicas of the courses the racing will take place on.

“The UCI is delighted that, after becoming the new platform and organiser of the UCI Cycling Esports World Championships for the next three years," David Lappartient, UCI President, said. "MyWhoosh has decided to make an even greater commitment to cycling by becoming the Main Partner of the UCI Road World Championships – our flagship annual event – for the period 2024-2026.

"With this increased investment, Abu Dhabi confirms the interest its leaders place in our sport, after hosting a very successful edition of the UCI Urban Cycling World Championships in 2022. The city will host this event again in 2024, as well as the UCI Road World Championships and the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in 2028, followed by the UCI Track World Championships in 2029. By organising these various events, Abu Dhabi is positioning itself more than ever as a leading host of cycling events and a world-renowned cycling hub.”

The 2024 UCI Road World Championships will be held in the Swiss city of Zurich between the 21-29 September. In 2025 the destination marks a first for the UCI with the racing taking place in Kigali, Rwanda, the first time the World Championships has headed to Africa. The final destination in MyWhoosh’s current tenure will be Montreal, Canada in 2026.

Akhtar Saeed Hashmi, CEO/Managing Director of MyWhoosh, said: “We are delighted to further strengthen our relationship with the UCI. Following on from being selected as an official partner and host of the UCI Cycling Esports World Championships from 2024-2026, becoming an official partner for the UCI Road World Championships for the same period is an exciting development in the world of virtual cycling and racing.”

“MyWhoosh users will be able to ride their very own UCI Road World Championships on the platform, while many professional racers will undoubtedly be testing themselves on the virtual courses ahead of the Zurich, Kigali and Montreal editions.”
