Tadej Pogačar will be racing in a new set of kicks at this years Giro d'Italia
DMT, which is the shoe partner for a number of UAE Team Emirates riders, has revealed its latest top-of-the-range ‘Pogi’ shoe, inspired by Tadej Pogačar at the Giro d'Italia.
The new shoes that Pogačar will be wearing to race around Italy this month will also be available to purchase for those looking for an ultra-premium cycling shoe.
With a third place and a stage win already propelling the Slovenian into the maglia rosa, these latest shoes certainly seem to be working well for the race leader. In fact, DMT has gone as far as to call the shoes "wings" as a nod to Pogačar's abilities when the road points skywards.

“Tadej's new 'wings' feature a Super Light carbon sole, an integrated AeroSafe pocket for secure and compact lace storage, and a breathable AeroFlex upper that offers an optimal blend of aerodynamics and durability."

The new Pogi edition shoes have an ICE key RFID tag embedded in them
“Additionally, the shoe boasts the Flex Fit collar for elasticity, integrated 3D channels, and lace-retaining pulleys that ensure enhanced foot support and stability during pedalling.”
The shoes feature what DMT call an ICE key, which embeds a small RFID tag in the shoe. This can store a rider's emergency contact information and any medical history that may be relevant in the event of a crash. This can be accessed by medical professionals at the scene of an accident if the rider is unresponsive or unable to provide their details.

Nicola Minali, DMT's R&D specialist said: "The ‘Pogi’ shoes are the result of ongoing discussions and consultations with various professional athletes who wear DMT, including Tadej.
“Our goal is to ensure superior performance and unparalleled comfort on the road, and the new pulley closure system we've incorporated serves just that purpose, along with many other details. We're excited to introduce a shoe to the market that exceeds every expectation, combining technology and design.”
DMT will be making the ‘Pogi’ shoes available for purchase, however they do come at a price worthy of a champion, with a pair retailing for €409.
