Top tech: Tadej Pogačar’s new DMT 'Pogi’s Heart Beat' shoes

Design is inspired by the passion of the two-time Tour de France winner

Here at GCN, we’re lucky enough to receive and test plenty of new tech. This week was no different as a very special pair of shoes landed in GCN HQ: DMT's new Pogi’s Heart Beat shoes. They won’t be around for us to enjoy for too long though as we’re giving a pair away in our latest competition - find out how you can enter in the video.

And it’s definitely a competition you’ll want to enter as they’re seriously cool shoes, inspired by and used by - no points for guessing this one - two-time Tour de France champion, Tadej Pogačar. Befitting a rider of Pogačar’s pedigree, they’re DMT’s top-range KR SLs which are packed with top tech and performance, including a lightweight carbon fibre sole and DMT’s unique 3D-knit construction.

It’s not all about substance though, and the Pogačar inspiration materialises itself in the form of some very eye-catching style, including colourful decor wrapping around the shoes. This decoration mimics a heartbeat and DMT says it’s inspired by the Slovenian’s passion. We’re not so sure it’s a medically accurate representation of his heartbeat, but it certainly looks good and each of the peaks in the heartbeat line is a different colour, representing some of Pogačar’s most famous wins. There’s yellow for the Tour de France and the Tour of Flanders, orange for the Amstel Gold Race, burgundy for Strade Bianche, plus many more (in case you're not aware, Pogačar is very good at winning bike races).

On the inside of the left shoe, there’s a unique NFC logo, standing for Near Field Communication. This is essentially a short-range connectivity device that can be read by most smartphones and allows the wearer of the shoes to upload key medical information. In an emergency, someone can scan the logo and access this information. Anything safety-orientated like this gets a big thumbs up from us.

That’s just a few of the amazing features of the new DMT Pogi’s Heart Beat shoes. You can check out a full breakdown and discover how to enter the competition in the video.
