Chris Froome turned up to the Tour de France Prudential Singapore Criterium on Sunday aboard a striking new bike, with a fresh lick of paint from Paul Smith.
The four-time Tour de France champion was recently presented with a custom version of the Factor O2 VAM, but he rode the Singapore Criterium on a specially-designed Ostro VAM, which is the aero offering from the British brand.
The bike features a paint job from the famous fashion designer Paul Smith, who is also a cycling fanatic. It will be formally unveiled at the flagship Paul Smith store in central London on November 8, with finer details of the collaboration closely guarded until then.
Paul Smith has a dedicated cycling clothing line, and has previously collaborated with the likes of Rapha, while Paul Smith himself has strong connections with a number of British pros, and has a signed yellow jersey from Froome's 2013 Tour de France win.
The design of Froome's Ostro VAM features several different blocks of colours, with a dark blue fork, green top tube, black head tube and seat tube, and a down tube of yellow on the top and blue on the bottom. The stays are also asymmetrical, with both seat stay and chain stay being green on the drivetrain side and blue on the other side.
The Paul Smith logo appears on both sides of the bike, with ‘Paul’ on either side of the down tube and ‘Smith’ on either fork. The bike is finished with custom blue bar tape that carries the Paul Smith moniker, which also appears on the bar end plugs.
