The Hyperon follows on from the range of Hyperon Ultra wheels
Campagnolo resurrected its climbing-focussed Hyperon Ultra wheelset earlier this year. Now the Italian brand has extended the range further with the addition of the new Hyperon, and like its predecessor, it’s a seriously performance-focussed set of wheels.
The new wheelset looks to build on the existing Hyperon Ultra wheelset but the Hyperon wheelset comes in at a slightly lower price point. Campagnolo are claiming that these new wheels ‘blend together a renewed mix of cutting-edge features and technologies.’

One of the technologies on display in the Hyperon wheels is what Campagnolo calls H.U.L.C (handmade ultra light carbon). This is the latest in cutting-edge technology that Campagnolo has at its disposal to create optimised rim profiles and to control the quality of both the carbon fibre and the resin being used. The end result, Campagnolo claims, is an increase to both the stiffness and resistance of the rims.

The rims measure in at 21mm internally with a 37mm rim profile
Campagnolo has built the rims using a single-joint construction method, the aim of which is to reduce the amount of potential points of weakness. This is in partnership with an asymmetric rim profile, that as Campagnolo says "allows for superior stiffness control and total tension management, guaranteeing maximum safety and handling around every bend".
The finish on the wheels is achieved using Campagnolo’s own C-LUX technology. This creates a natural finish smooth enough to not require any additional layers of lacquer, which in the process saves weight. An added benefit to the C-LUX finish of the rim is that it allows for the safest possible seating of a tubeless tyre. The ultimate result of this, Campagnolo claims, is less abrasion to the rim itself.
The C-LUX finish removes the need for any lacquer on the rim surface
The rims measure in at 21mm wide internally with a 37mm rim profile and the total wheelset weight comes in at 1340 grams.
The Hyperon wheelset will retail at $2790 / €2690.
