The Tour de France just concluded, but the world of bike racing keeps on rolling. GCN’s Dan Lloyd is back on the GCN Racing News Show with a breakdown of the final week of the Tour de France, the opening stage of the Tour de France femmes avec Zwift and the news surrounding where riders will end up next year.
On the Tour de France, Dan broke down the stages that were and highlighted his favourite of the bunch. The last time the Racing News Show came out, the Tour seemed poised for one of its closest contests. After the time trial and stage 17 to the Col de la Loze, however, the fairytale end to the Tour was not meant to be. Nevertheless, Dan’s favourite stage, and many others as well, was stage 19, after the GC battle had gone to bed. That day had non-stop racing and a deserving winner in Matej Mohorič (Bahrain Victorious) who also gave a truly splendid winner’s interview.
The major news after stage 1 of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift was one of continued SD Worx domination. On the finish that had a short, steep climb punctuating the final, Lotte Kopecky stormed to the win and took the first yellow jersey of the Tour while her teammate, Lorena Wiebes, took the bunch sprint for second place. Lastly, Dan talked about some of the latest transfer rumours coming from our own, Dan Benson. These include Lucinda Brand staying at Lidl-trek until 2025, Ben Tullet and Matteo Jorgenson on the move to Jumbo-Visma, Ryan Gibbons to Lidl-Trek, and Matteo Sobrero to Bora-Hansgrohe.
