GCN Racing News Show: 8 hot takes for 2024

Dan Lloyd kicks off the year with some bold predictions about the coming racing season

Clock12:16, Tuesday 2nd January 2024

It’s a new year, and in the cycling world, that also means the new season is upon us. After a couple of months without any road racing, the men’s and women’s Tours Down Under kick things off from 12 January, and the Spring Classics will be here before we know it.

With just a few days before the season kicks off and we get wrapped up in the racing, Dan Lloyd took the opportunity on this week’s Racing News Show to look ahead to the coming year, and make some bold predictions for what’s in store for 2024.

Dan’s predictions and takes vary from the fairly likely and assured, to the hot and specific. We’ll remember to revisit your Flanders podium predictions in March, Dan.

Will Visma-Lease a Bike continue their Grand Tour dominance from 2023, or could next year see them fail to win a three-week race altogether? Can Wout van Aert finally win another Monument and add to his tally?

On the women’s side, what can Lotte Kopecky add to her palmarès next season? And just how far can SD Worx take their dominance?

Plus, Dan throws some massive predictions the way of some of the youngest stars in the peloton, and gives his answer to one of the biggest questions of 2024: will Mark Cavendish win another Tour de France stage?

Tune into the video to hear all of Dan’s predictions and more as we head into the 2024 racing season.

Do you agree or disagree with Dan’s takes? What’s your own bold prediction for 2024? Be sure to let us know in the comments!
