The race of the two seas has long been regarded as a tough race, with tough climbs and brutal summit finishes scattered across the stages, save the two time trials that bookend the race. It will serve as perfect preparation for classics riders such as Fabian Cancellara and Peter Sagan, while Grand Tour protagonists like Vincenzo Nibali, Alejandro Valverde and Rigoberto Uran will seek to gauge their form ahead of the Giro D'Italia in May. Cavendish, Gaviria and Ewan will go head-to-head in the sprints.
