Lauren Dolan: At only 17 years of old Lauren Dolan is the youngest rider to be included in our ‘Toughest’ video so far, due to her quite incredible feat of bravery in the Junior World TT in Bergen Norway that saw her draw praise from all quarters of the cycling world, due by her astounding mental and physical fortitude at such a tender age.

Roger de Vlaeminck: Victorious in stages in all 3 Grand Tours and a winner of every monument.. Add to 4 Paris Roubaix’s.. 3 Milan San Remos, 2 Tour of Lombardys and one each at The Tour of Flanders and Liege Bastogne Liege and you get a fuller sense of the measure of this man’s capacity to suffer and succeed at the toughest races.

Amanda Coker: 24 year old American Amanda Coker is one tough bike rider, make no bones about it. She’s also the holder of the world record for greatest distance ever ridden in a year by any cyclist. The eye popping total? 86,573 miles. That’s around 236.8 miles a day for 365 days.. Without a day off.

Wim Van Est: In the 1951 edition of the Tour de France a breakaway victory on stage 12 saw Van Est become the first ever Dutchman to wear the maillot jaune, which he wore with pride on the following day as the race headed into the Pyrenees. However, during a furious solo chase on the descent of the Col d’Aubisque, he punctured and lost control, plunging 70 metres into a ravine.
