The Precision 3+ Pro adds dual-sided power metrics to the Precision 3+ range

Power meter manufacturer 4iiii has announced an all-new, dual-sided power meter: the Precision 3+ Pro. This is an evolution of the existing Precision 3+ single-sided meter, with added data from the individual strain gauges on the left and right cranks.

The Precision 3+ Pro has a claimed accuracy of +/-1% and a run time of approximately 550 hours, with more detailed analytics such as left/right balance, pedalling efficiency and torque effectiveness, all enabled by the dual-sided set-up.

At 29 grams the power meter is one of the lightest options on the market and the slim design allows for greater compatibility with a range of frames. As with most crank-based power meters, the strain gauge and battery unit sit on the back side of the non-drive side crank protruding by a few millimetres.

As with the Precision 3+ released in summer 2023, the Pro version can be used alongside Apple’s ‘Find my’ technology. This allows you to use your power meter much like one of Apple's Air Tags, which uses other iPhones within the vicinity to share its location with the user.

This might give some riders peace of mind, but the 'Find my' functionality will likely be an ineffective method for tracking stolen bikes, since the ‘Find my’ programme alerts iPhone users that they are being tracked after a few hours of being tethered to the same device.

With this new product, the brand have partnered with American bike brand Specialized. Their Road Product Manager said “In 2024, riders can find S-works and Pro Tarmac, Aethos, and Roubaix Shimano models equipped with 4iiii’s PRECISION 3+ PRO and PRECISION 3+, respectively. As riders ourselves, we have been impressed by 4iiii’s new PRECISION 3+ line and recognize the importance of an accurate and durable power meter. The integration of Apple Find My will bring extra peace of mind to many users.”

To begin with, only Shimano Dura-ace and Ultegra cranks will be released however, there are plans for this to extend to XTR, XT and GRX cranksets later in the year.

The Precision 3+ Pro retails for between £949.99 for an Ultegra 8100 crankset and £1224.99 for a Dura-ace 9200 crankset.
