Canyon knows how to tease a crowd with the unreleased bike semi-visible from inside a translucent display

German bike manufacturer Canyon has been teasing a new product at Sea Otter this week. Although the brand was not able to disclose any exact timeline for the new bike, they did say we wouldn’t be waiting too long.

Canyon knows how to spark intrigue with the new bike actually present in the flesh at the show but hidden within a translucent box that revealed only the bike's silhouette. Two things we can be sure of is that the new bike will be the latest in the brand’s well established :ON range of e-bikes and the new bike will fit into the Canyon’s mountain bike range.

Beyond this, one of Canyon’s engineers who was present at Sea Otter was very coy on any further details. When asked if the new bike is using a new motor platform he simply replied: “You will have to wait and see.”

From the details that Canyon is displaying, the new bike looks to represent a step change in the brand's e-bike philosophy. On the side of the display unit, some clues as to the intentions of the new bike can be found.

“The forest is our home. Here we seek adventure, silence, and the unknown. Have you ever seen a dragonfly in action? They dominate the skies at up to 30 wing beats per second – speed artists that glide gently one moment and change direction at lightning speed the next.”

The display concluded by saying, “They [dragonflies] are the true superheroes of the forest. We need more superheroes like the dragonfly. This is the start of a new era.”
