The Dane, a versatile sprinter and Classics man, racked up three podium finishes at the Tour of Denmark before winning the final time trial to seal the overall victory at the five-day stage race. Not content with the overall and points classification in his home race, the 27-year-old won the German one-day BEMER Cyclassics in extraordinary style, bridging across to a dangerous breakaway inside the final metres and sprinting to victory - his seventh of the season.
In the latest GCN Racing News Show, Dan Lloyd brings us all the racing results from across the past week, including Pedersen’s heroics, the Tour du Limousin, Arctic Race of Norway, Tour de l’Avenir and the Vuelta a Burgos. Needless to say, there has been no period of rest between the World Championships and the upcoming Vuelta a España.
But before the final Grand Tour of the season gets underway, there have been troubling news emerging from the peloton both past and present, with Michel Hessmann (Jumbo-Visma) suspended for a doping violation and former Team Sky (now Ineos Grenadiers) doctor Richard Freeman handed a four-year doping ban. Dan looks at the cloud this brings over the current Jumbo-Visma squad and the legacy of Team Sky.
Tune in for all this and more on this week’s instalment of the GCN Racing News Show.
