The cycling world was shocked last week by the untimely death of Gino Mäder at the Tour de Suisse. Just 26 years of age, the Bahrain Victorious rider crashed heavily on a descent during stage 5 and sadly died on Friday morning.
A talented cyclist, Mäder will perhaps best be remembered for his intelligence, humour and dedication to his numerous passions, amongst which was raising awareness of environmental issues. We pay tribute to Gino in this week’s GCN Racing News Show.
Although paling into insignificance at such a heartbreaking time, the racing did continue at the Tour de Suisse and elsewhere over the course of the last week. Dan casts an eye on the remainder of the Tour de Suisse, which saw many teams and riders understandably pull out.
Elsewhere, there’s a recap from the pick of the action at the Tour of Belgium, Tour of Slovenia, Route d’Occitanie, Giro Next Gen, and the UCI Mountain Bike World Series. Ahead of the upcoming racing, we also cast an eye on what you can watch on GCN+ this week.
