Watch: Tour de France Femmes stage 7 highlights

A dramatic and historic day as the riders ascend the iconic Col du Tourmalet

Clock17:41, Saturday 29th July 2023

Stage 7 of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift was one of the most hotly anticipated days in recent memory, with the iconic Col du Tourmalet on the menu, and it did not disappoint.

Demi Vollering (SD Worx) emerged from the mountain mist to claim the stage victory and with it the yellow jersey, taking full control of the race with just one time trial remaining.

The two-way battle between Vollering and Annemiek van Vleuten had been simmering all week, as well as during the build-up to the race, but it looked rather one-sided on the brutal slopes of the Pyrenean climb, with Vollering putting more than two and a half minutes into her rival.

Van Vleuten could only manage third place, as Katarzyna Niewiadoma (Canyon-SRAM) claimed an impressive runner-up spot, attacking on the descent of the Col d'Aspin before holding off all but the rampaging Vollering on the Tourmalet.
