Watch: Giro d'Italia Donne stage 3 highlights

A day for the sprinters as Lorena Wiebes proves unbeatable

Clock17:00, Sunday 2nd July 2023

After a cancelled time trial and a climbing day, it was eventually time for the sprinters to battle it out on stage 3 of the Giro d'Italia Donne.

Starting in Formigine and finishing in Modena, the 118km stage had just one small climb dropped in the middle of an otherwise totally flat profile.

Two different groups of riders spent time out front as the day's breakaways, but both were ultimately doomed with the sprint teams very determined to bring things back together for a bunch kick.

In the finale, where the GC times were taken at 1km to go due to the technical finish, SD Worx gave Lorena Wiebes a perfect lead-out to take her eighth win of the season ahead of Marianne Vos (Jumbo-Visma) and Chloé Dygert (Canyon-SRAM).
