Lorena Wiebes

When it comes to sprinters in the women’s peloton, Lorena Wiebes (SD Worx) is on a level of her own. With over 60 pro victories to her name at only 24, she is one of the most prolific winners in the sport, largely down to her almost unbeatable ability in a sprint finish.

An alumna of the Parkhotel-Valkenburg squad, Wiebes showed her promise straight out of the juniors, and then it was with the drilled lead-out of DSM where she really honed her sprint skills and started racking up the wins. In 2023, though, she swapped DSM for SD Worx, bolstering the team’s super team status.

Though her sprinting has been essentially unmatched for the last seasons, the Dutchwoman has made no secret about her hopes to improve her abilities as a Classics rider, and has rarely been far from the front in even the tougher one-day races of 2023.
