Tour De France 2013 Preview - What Will Happen In The 100th Tour De France?

Clock00:00, Wednesday 19th June 2013

The 2013 Tour de France kicks off on the 29th June, here at GCN we're very excited about the 100th edition of the great race. With defending champion Bradley Wiggins not taking part, we look ahead to what to expect from the biggest race of the year.

GCN's own Tour de France finisher Daniel Lloyd guides us through what to expect from the 2013 Tour, with help from road.cc's Tony Farrelly.

The Tour returns with a much more mountainous route than last year. With Bradley Wiggins out with a knee injury, we look at who will inherit the top step of the podium. His teammate Chris Froome is favourite, but could the returning Alberto Contador set the race alight and derail the Sky train?

In the competition for the green jersey Peter Sagan and Mark Cavendish look set to renew their rivalry. Both come to the Tour this year as the sole leaders of their teams and the battle for the green jersey could go all the way to the final evening stage on the Champs-Élysées.

Daniel gives his pick of the stages to look out for in what is set to be one of the toughest Tours of recent years. If you fancy reading up on the Tour, Daniel also provides his book recommendations.

Stay tuned to GCN as we bring you more previews of the race and, of course, full coverage and background footage from what could prove to be one of the most exciting Tours in years.
