In Part 1 Ex-Professional cyclist Simon Richardson checked out the geometries and chose the tubing for his custom frameset.

In this episode Simon looks at setting up the jig, cutting, shaping and mitring the the tubes into place before tacking them.

Simon's frame dimensions and angles are calculated from a computer software package, as used in the first video. The jig is then used to initially hold the tubes into their exact position in order to complete the first steps of brazing the frame.

Mitring the tubes is a very precise "hands on" bit of work and this is where the jig really comes into its own . The tubes needs to sit perfectly with each other and no gaps allowed. Easier said than done. The jig allows the frame to be essentially "pieced" together and this stable and highly accurate piece of equipment allows just that.

Finally in this video Simon gets the oxy-acetylene torch into his hands and tacks the tubes together. This is a basic form of joining the all the tubes together at their junctions so that the frame can be removed from the jig and then brazed together properly (Video 3)

A huge thanks to The Bicycle Academy (http://gcn.eu/TBA) for teaching Simon how to build a frame!

Can he beat his previous best time, set when he was a lot younger (and fitter), and on a specialist time trial bike? Can he beat the locals on their TT bikes?
