Have Mavic Nailed Tubeless For Road? New Wheels And Tyres

Road Tubeless Tyres have been around for sometime now, but they've not become hugely popular. It seems Mavic may now have the ideal proposition.

Mavic have just launched 12 new road wheelsets and 2 new tyres. Mavic's tyre/rim combination has a tolerance of 1mm, ensuring that the tyre sits perfectly inside the rim and resulting in an easier to mount tyre. Mavic's huge data collection of measuring wheels/tyres means that they can claim their tubeless system is perfect as due to the products being specifically designed for one another.

One of the huge benefits of Tubeless tyres is said to be the resistance to punctures. Ex-Professional cyclist Simon Richardson checks out just how well they seal with the tubeless sealant when riding over a variety different nails/tacks as well as cutting the sidewall of the tyre with a retractable knife.

For those of you concerned about weight, Mavic claims that their tubeless setup is approx 40g lighter than the clincher version using an inner tube! Mavic claim that the tubeless setup is 15% less rolling resistance and the 28mm version is the fastest!
