Ex-Professional Cyclist Dan Lloyd gives his expert advice on 9 riders to keep an eye on in this Sunday's Liège–Bastogne–Liège.
Located and raced in Wallonia, the French-speaking region of southern Belgium. This race is also know as Luik-Bastenaken-Luik by the Dutch/Flemish speaking residents of Belgium.
This is the final classic of the Spring Classics campaign and is the oldest of the five 'monuments' in cycling, 2017 marks the 103rd edition of the race affectionately know as La Doyenne or "The Old Lady" in English!
The riders will tackle 10 categorised climbs in this edition, with the Côte de La Redoute often being a decisive climb after 222.5km of racing with it's average gradient of 8.9% over 2km!
Here are the climbs of the race:
Km 70.0 - Côte de La Roche en Ardenne - 2.8 kilometre-long climb at 6.2%
Km 116.0 - Côte de Saint-Roch - 1 kilometre-long climb at 11.2%
Km 168.0 - Côte de Pont - 1 kilometre-long climb at 10.5%
Km 172.0 - Côte de Bellevaux - 1.1 kilometre-long climb at 6.8%
Km 180.0 - Côte de la Ferme Libert - 1.2 kilometre-long climb at 12.1%
Km 198.0 - Col du Rosier - 4.4 kilometre-long climb at 5.9%
Km 211.0 - Col du Maquisard - 2.5 kilometre-long climb at 5%
Km 222.5 - Côte de La Redoute - 2 kilometre-long climb at 8.9%
Km 239.0 - Côte de La Roche-aux-Faucons - 1.3 kilometre-long climb at 11%
Km 252.5 - Côte de Saint-Nicolas - 1.2 kilometre-long climb at 8.6%
