No-handed. Now we don’t mean riding around the whole time with your hands off the bars, in our opinion, it doesn’t look very cool, and ultimately isn’t the safest thing to do. But being good at riding no-handed is definitely pro. Pros can’t stop in the middle of a race to take of a rain jacket or to open a tricky energy bar. So riding no-handed is just second nature to a pro. The ultimate no handed skill has to be getting changed while riding up a hill at a slow speed. This does take a bit of practice as the slower speeds do naturally cause the bike to wobble around more.
Poker face. Look at most pros riding up a climb and they just seem to be cruising, you can almost never tell how hard they are working! So how do they do it, are pros always riding easy? Well no, obviously they’re not just not trying the whole time, some pros do actually put work into looking as relaxed as they can while riding hard. There is an element of this that’s performance enhancing, the theory going that if your body is more relaxed you’re expending less energy. But the real reason pros try and look easy when they’re working hard is as a psychological tool against their competitors.
