It's often seen as a preview to the Tour de France and is a perfect opportunity for the big contenders to test their legs before the Tour de France in July.

Who are your riders to watch out for at this years Critérium du Dauphiné ? Let us know in the comments 👇
Here are our ten riders to watch our for, in no particular order:
- Chris Froome. 3 x Tour de France Champion.
- Richie Porte. Hot contender for overall victory.
- Alberto Contador. Will it be his final season? Can he perform as well as in the early season?
- Alejandro Valverde. 11 victories so far in 2017, including three stage races.
- Esteban Chaves. He's focusing on the 2017 Tour de France and the Critérium du Dauphiné. It's going to be very interesting as he's not raced since January due to an injury.
- Romain Bardet. A runner up at last year's event, but no top 5 places in stage races in 2017 so far.
- Tony Gallopin. An attacking rider who can also time trial well. But will he go for overall or a stage win?
- Fabio Aru. Fabio Aru won a stage at the 2016 Critérium du Dauphiné and he missed out on the Giro d'Italia last month due to injury.
- Alexander Kristoff. There are not very many opportunities for a sprinter, but you can bet on the Katusha-Alpecin team being there to lead out Kristoff when they're needed.
- Arnaud Demare. A sprinter who has had 5 victories so far in 2017.
