Is this Campagnolo's first in-house power meter crankset?
An as-yet unreleased Campagnolo power meter has been spotted by Bikerumor at the Cyclo-cross World Championships.
The spider-based power meter in question was on Ryan Kamp’s Colnago G3-X and was a part of the Italian brand’s Super Record Wireless groupset, which was released last year.
With most of its rivals offering them, an in-house power meter has been a notable absentee from Campagnolo’s line-up but it appears that that Italian brand will soon set that record straight, although details are thin on the ground at this stage.

New range of Campagnolo power meters?
At the minute, Campagnolo lags behind its rivals in terms of power meters as it is still currently the only one of the three main groupset brands - alongside Shimano and SRAM - that doesn’t offer an in-house option. Campagnolo’s groupsets have to be paired with third-party options instead.
There was a little surprise when the Super Record Wireless, which was released in 2023, didn’t include an in-built power meter to bring it in line with the offerings of other brands - especially as the Italian brand has filed multiple patents over the last five years for what appear to be power meters. It did, however, bridge the gap in other ways, becoming Campagnolo’s first fully wireless groupset.
Now it appears that Campagnolo is planning to set the record straight, although little is known about the new power meter with, not too surprisingly, no official word from the Italian brand.

The spider-based power meter feature's Campagnolo's logo
As given away by the logo, it’s clearly a Campagnolo device and, according to Bikerumor, is constructed from aluminium rather than carbon.
Kamp made the switch to Campagnolo groupsets at the beginning of January after leaving Pauwels Sauzen–Bingoal and his original bike, shared in an Instagram video, didn’t have the power meter, so it appears to be a new addition.
We’ll keep our eyes open over the coming months for any more details.
