Shimano brings three newly-designed glasses to market

Shimano has upgraded its range of cycling glasses with two newly-designed models and a new addition to the line, all featuring the Japanese company’s Ridescape lens technology.

The Technium has been updated with 45% bio-based materials and a tweaked design, and it now has a companion in the form of the all-new Technium L, a half-frame version that weighs in at just 26 grams.

In addition, Shimano has also revamped the budget-friendly Twinspark model with a weight drop and half-frame design.

All three models feature the Ridescape technology designed to provide versatility for different riding conditions and types of terrain. The spectrum of six lens options is aimed at allowing riders to pick the right lens to match where their intended use, from bright sunny days through to the dappled light of a forest trail or gravel road.

Technium

The first of the three new offerings is the re-modelled Technium, which is a full-framed design that comes in the choice of seven different colours.

The Technium is available in RD, OR, and GR lens variations with each denoting the anticipated environment they are suited for. RD is most suited for road, OR for mountain biking, and GR for gravel. Each set also comes with a clear lens for use in low-light conditions.

  • Frames: Matte Black, Matte White, Teal, Teaberry, Matte Grey, Dark Olive, Bronze Gold
  • Frame: Arkema Rilsan clear G850 Rnew 45% bio-based materials
  • Weight: 27.4g
  • Lenses: RIDESCAPE RD, OR, and GR
  • Spare Lens: Clear
  • MSRP: $100.00 USD, €99.95 EUR

Technium L

An even lighter version of the Technium, the Technium L enters the scene with a half-frame design.

The construction of the frame is the same as the Technium but the Technium L also has the option for a photochromic lens that automatically adjusts to different light levels.

  • Frames: Matte Black, Matte White, Crimson, Smokey Navy, Dark Olive, Bronze Gold
  • Frame: Arkema Rilsan clear G850 Rnew 45% bio-based materials
  • Weight: 26g
  • Lenses: RIDESCAPE RD, OR and GR, and Photochromic Grey
  • Spare Lens: Clear
  • MSRP: $100.00 USD, €99.95 EUR

Twinspark

The final new addition to the range is the more budget-friendly new Twinspark, which also uses a similar half-framed design to the Technium L.

This has helped drop the weight by 2.5g compared to the previous iteration.

The shape does differ slightly and the Twinspark is only available with the Ridescape HC lens optimised for bright sunny days.

  • Frames: Black, White, Deep Red, Smoky Navy
  • Weight: 25.3g
  • Lenses: RIDESCAPE HC
  • MSRP: $65.00 USD, €54.95 EUR
