Hunt has updated the Hill Climb SL Tubular wheelset to make it disc brake compatible

With the British hill climb season about to kick off, Hunt has seized the opportunity to drop an all-new wheelset that will have the weight weenies among us salivating. The Hill Climb SL Disc tubular is a fully carbon wheelset which hits the scales at under 1kg for the pair - reportedly coming in at just 963g.

Features

These wheels have one mission in mind: getting you up a hill as fast as possible. Hunt, which has been growing as a brand in recent years, in no small part thanks to its low-budget price point for quality wheels, has gone back to the drawing board for these wheels.

The original Hill Climb SL wheels were released five years ago, and Hunt thought it was time to give the name an overhaul and bring this wheelset bang up to date.

Not only are these wheels incredibly light, Hunt has also made them practical for the consumer with a move to replaceable and true-able carbon spokes. To keep the weight low, the wheels are built upon 18 and 20 spokes, front and rear respectively.

They also feature a very slimmed down 6066 CNC’d alloy hub with a 40-tooth ratchet hub offering nine-degree engagement, and a freehub body that has been put on a diet with holes drilled out of it to shed further grams.

The rims are well equipped for whatever tyre you would want to fit on a wheelset with a 30mm deep and 26mm external width allowing for anything from a 23mm to a 28mm tubular tyre.

Pricing and availability

Hunt has managed to keep the price of this wheelset remarkably competitive, available to pre-order for £,1299 / $1,699 / €1,699.

The wheelsets are available with Shimano, Sram XD/XDR, Campagnolo and the new N3W Campagnolo hub. Pre-orders are expected to ship the second week in September.

Check out the full range of wheels over on Hunt's website.
