UCI Women's WorldTeam
This American outfit, formed from the merger of EF Education and TIBCO-SVB at the start of 2022, joined the Women’s WorldTour last year and immediately made an impression, winning nine races in the first half of the season. Most of these wins were taken in North America, which is where the team was originally founded in the 90s, back when they were known as Pal Alto Bicycles Women’s Team.
In 2005 this amateur squad turned pro and it wasn’t long before TIBCO, a software company based in California, came on board as a title sponsor. TIBCO have been involved in the project since, funding the team as it has made a name for itself not only on the domestic scene, but on the European circuit too. Several of North America’s most successful riders - like Megan Guarnier, the 2016 Giro Rosa champion - started off their professional careers at this team before moving onto bigger teams based in Europe.
Others, like Lauren Stephens, have spent almost their entire careers at the US-based outfit and have helped them take some of their biggest ever wins. The team now has a new wave of North American talent amongst its ranks, including Canadian Alison Jackson, and Americans Veronica Ewers, Emma Langley, Clara Honsinger and Krista Doebel-Hickok. Jackson took a big win at Paris-Roubaix early in 2023, perhaps the most important win in the team's history.
