Primož Roglič will be hoping to lose less than the 48 seconds he conceded to Remco Evenepoel on stage 10 last year

With the Vuelta a España perfectly poised after nine days of racing, we may be set for a better GC battle in the year's final Grand Tour than we enjoyed at the Giro d'Italia or the Tour de France. Of course, the reigning champions of both of these races - Primož Roglič and Jonas Vingegaard, respectively - will be lining up on stage 10, but it is their Jumbo-Visma teammate Sepp Kuss who currently holds the red jersey.

The American is in uncharted territory, 43 seconds ahead of Marc Soler (UAE Team Emirates) and more than two minutes ahead of the pre-race GC favourites. Unshackled from the burdens of domestique duties - for now - Kuss has the perfect opportunity to spring a surprise over the Vuelta's final weeks. But first, he must hold his own in the race against the clock.

Tuesday's time trial is 25.8km long and will take place around the streets of Valladolid, in which we expect Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quick-Step) and Filippo Ganna (Ineos Grenadiers) to be the key contenders to win the stage. But will anybody be able to beat two riders who between them share three world time trial championship titles?

To get you prepared for today's racing, here are the start times for the stage 10 individual time trial in local time. Keep in mind that Spain is one hour ahead of the UK and six hours ahead of those on the east coast of the United States.
