The Pope received the bike from Egan Bernal in 2021

The Pope's Pinarello F12 road bike is up for auction. The bike, which was gifted to Pope Francis by Egan Bernal during a visit in 2021, is being sold online by a private seller through the auction site Catawiki.

The F12 is a 53cm frame, equipped with mechanical Shimano Ultegra, an integrated Most bar and stem, Vision wheels and Pirelli P Zero tyres. Traditionalists will be pleased to note this is a rim-brake-equipped bike.

It is painted in the colours of the Argentine flag, the country of Pope Francis, and appears to be in mint condition — either the Pope isn't much of a cyclist, or he has paid attention to GCN's bike maintenance videos.

The bike is estimated to sell for €25,000–€30,000, with the auction ending in just over six days. At the moment, the highest bid is just €2,200, although the reserve price is still yet to be met.

Bernal gifted Pope Francis the bike following his victory at the 2021 Giro d'Italia. At the time, Bernal, a practising Catholic, said the meeting was "the most beautiful [experience] I've had in my life", and more important than winning a Giro d'Italia stage.

During his visit, Bernal also gifted the Pope a signed pink jersey from the Giro, which the same seller has listed on a separate Catawiki auction. The highest bid for the jersey is currently €130.
