Lime's new clothing line is designed to be practical yet stylish
Lime is the world’s largest shared electric vehicle company, with fleets of electric bikes and scooters in cities all over the world. Following research suggesting clothes were restricting people from riding, it's released a new cycle-friendly line of clothing.
The new collection, called ‘Re-cycle’, is designed in collaboration with Lydia Bolton, a British slow fashion designer.
When Lime says this is a limited run, it means it: there are four pieces in the new line, a vest, a jacket, some shorts and a clothing clip, and each one is one-of-a-kind – as in, there is only one of each. Those interested in getting their hands on the new threads can bid for each one individually in a charity auction, hosted on eBay.

Let the bike path be your catwalk
The new line is a response to Lime’s in-house research that found that nine in 10 UK adults avoid cycling and scootering if wearing ‘uncomfortable’ or ‘inappropriate’ clothing, and that two in five Brits will travel by car when wardrobe concerns rule out a scooter or bike. As a result, the clothes balance high-fashion quirkiness with practical touches – the items feature clips, pockets and zip-off components that can be stored in a natty bag-cum-accessory.
The new line is made from recycled materials, supplied by charity retailer TRAID. This approach is designer Lydia Bolton’s bread and butter: she made her name producing zero-waste clothing from deadstock fabric and second-hand materials.
Upon releasing the collaboration with Bolton, Lime said: "It’s time to make integrating fashion, functionality, safety and sustainability into your everyday life easy."
