Geraint Thomas came within a stage of winning the Giro d'Italia in May
Geraint Thomas has partnered up with Quercus Publishing for a fourth time to release his latest book, Great Rides According to G, set to be published this October.
Written in partnership with Tom Fordyce, who has worked on Thomas’ previous books, Quercus says that the new release will take the reader “on the training rides, races and journeys closest to [Thomas’s] heart”.
Announcing the publication of his fourth book, which will be released on 26 October, Thomas posted a video on social media speaking about the project.
“In the book I share the most interesting training and racing roads from the past 25 odd years, from when I started down in South Wales to the Peak District where I learnt my trade on the [British] academy, to the rolling roads of Tuscany and the wide-open vistas of New Zealand’s South Island,” he said
Thomas’ previous three books, The World of Cycling According to G (2016), The Tour According to G (2019) and Mountains According to G (2022) were also ghostwritten by British sports journalist and co-host of The Geraint Thomas Cycling Club podcast, Tom Fordyce. The pair will accompany the book’s publication with a two-date live tour in London and Cardiff on November 6 and November 7, with tickets on sale now.

The new book is the fourth in Geraint Thomas’ According to G series
The Welshman’s debut release came with The World of Cycling According to G in 2016, described by former Team Sky teammate Bradley Wiggins as “the best thing to come out of Wales since Tom Jones’ sideburns”.
Publishing Director of Quercus Publishing, Richard Milner, was delighted to announce their latest instalment in the According to G series.
“It’s wonderful to have a new addition to our According to G publishing, especially on the back of Geraint gaining even more fans in the way he came so close to winning this year’s Giro.”
Still a member of the team now known as Ineos Grenadiers, Thomas has added the Tour de France to his palmarès since releasing his first book, along with two podium finishes in Paris and a runner-up spot in this year’s Giro d’Italia.
Ineos Grenadiers looked set to win the Giro d’Italia with Thomas earlier this year, having worn the maglia rosa for eight days and heading into the stage 20 time trial with a 26 second advantage over Primož Roglič (Jumbo-Visma). But the three-time Vuelta a España champion overcame a mechanical in the time trial to topple Thomas’ lead and win the maglia rosa at the final opportunity.
Thomas has not raced since finishing second to the Slovenian at the Italian Grand Tour, but has made the news for a new range of SunGod sunglasses that has been designed in collaboration with the 37-year-old.
Retailing for £20, Great Rides According to G will be published on October 26 2023 and signed copies are available for pre-order from the Waterstones website.
Prior to publication, fans of Geraint Thomas will be able to watch the Welshman race at La Vuelta a España, each stage of which is live and ad-free on GCN+ (territory restrictions apply).
