We asked McQuaid how he got into cycling and for some insight and highlights of his career before becoming UCI president. Formerly a pro cyclist in his own right, and coming from a family of cyclists, McQuaid has been involved in cycling all his life. From working with teams and coaching, then getting into managment of teams and his involvment in the 1984 Olympic games, to moving into race organisation, McQuaid has been involved in cycling for pretty much his whole life.
