The Tour Down Under started with 135km between Nurioopta and Angaston. The stage featured a climb late in the race.
Before the start, we caught up with the riders. Luke Rowe, Rory Sutherland and Bram Tankink let us know how they thought the stage would pan out.
The race came down to a bunch sprint after the overall riders were unable or uninterested in driving the pace on Mengler's Hill, the only obstacle on an otherwise flat and windy stage. Andre Greipel led it out before Australian champion Simon Gerrans kicked in the last hundred metres and pipped Greipel on the line.
We caught up with Simon after the race.
