In 2014, Shimano and SRAM are releasing hydraulic disc brakes as part of their high end road groupsets. With this level of investment from two of the biggest brands in cycling, we can confidently say that discs are here to stay.
How will this affect you? We spoke to a range of industry experts and insiders at Eurobike: Caley Fretz of VeloNews gave us the rundown on ride quality, ZIPP wheels engineer Michael Hall spoke about the changes in wheel design, Christoph Allwang of SRAM explained the R & D process behind SRAM Red 22 and Dirk Van Den Berk of Ridley explained how discs will affect frame designs.
