American Taylor Phinney has earned world championship medals against the clock as a junior and elite, on the track and on the road. After a serious leg injury kept him away from the sport for over 12 months, he returned to competition in August 2015 with a stage 1 win at the USA Pro Challenge, in Colorado, and then rode as a member of BMC Racing's world-championship winning squad in the team time trial event in Richmond, Virginia. At the Pro Challenge we caught up with BMC Racing mechanic, Ian Sherburne, as well Phinney's longtime coach, Neal Henderson, to examine both his equipment choices and his aerodynamic position, which requires "morphological exceptions" due to his exceptional height (6-foot-5, or 1.96m).

Are Pro Handlebars Getting Higher For More Speed?

At the 2024 Giro d'Italia, Alex investigates whether the world's best riders are still favouring a super low and long bike setup, or if the trends are shifting towards some riders opting for a higher front end and more spacers. Is this for increased comfort, or is it a new approach to their riding position and aerodynamics? Join Alex to find out!
