GCN caught up with Specialized, who have been working with the USA team at the road world championships to produce the B-Box, which measures not only the typical performance indicators such as power, but also the athlete's position on the bike during a ride.
The concept was developed in conjunction with engineers in Formula One, a sport which shares many fundamental racing principles with cycling, such as power-to-weight ratios and the obsession with minimising aerodynamic drag.
At elite level, teams and riders are always looking for the marginal gains that in a bid to achieve better results. As a result, Specialized are increasingly looking to market their bikes and new technology like the B-Box as a complete package.
