The Orbea Orca remained relatively unchanged after Samuel Sanchez won the 2008 Beijing Olympics aboard one. We took a look at the updated model that Euskaltel-Euskadi are riding at the 2013 Tour de France.
Orbea have updated the geometry and finish of the Orca. The geometry has been changed to make the bike more comfortable, and the finish is now matte. Euskaltel-Euskadi run Shimano Dura Ace 9070 11 speed electronic throughout, with FSA finishing kit and Selle Italia saddles. They also buck the trend for wider tyres, choosing Vittoria Corsa Evo CX tyres in the 23mm incarnation.
Orbea are a Basque brand, sponsoring a Basque team that, until last season, was made up entirely of Basque riders. The Basque imagery is present throughout, with the 'ikurinna', the Basque flag taking pride of place on the seat stays.
