Firstly, let's see where the sound is actually coming from. So you need to do a process of elimination. Starting, with the easiest things first. Make sure it is actually coming from the bottom bracket or drivetrain. So a few things to do is make sure that when you put lots of torque through the handlebars, it is not that which is causing the creaking. Stand over the bike and give the bars a good bit of torque, pretend you are sprinting like Andre Greipel. A creak there? Then fix that one first. Also, does that creak only happen when you are in the saddle? Remove and refit seatpost and saddle and use grease or carbon grip where necessary.

Still creaking? Ok, we’re going to need to remove the chainset first to get to the BB. Clean out the surfaces of the bottom bracket bearings and the axle of your chainset, regrease it. Refit it, go for a ride. Still going? Ok, it’s time for the nitty-gritty. You are going to have to remove the BB cups from the bb shell. A bearing press to press the cups into the frame, and a cup remover, to remove them from the BB shell.
