Coping with contact isn't about aggression, it's about being able to deal safely with a normal race situation.
Ideally, there would be no contact in road racing. But the fact is that some contact is inevitable. If you're going into a climb, a tight corner or in the final few kilometres of a race, the bunch will be tightly packed and everyone will want to be at the front. By knowing how to deal with the odd bump, you'll stay upright and won't cause any havoc in the bunch.
