The Raceday is a new addition to ENVE's SES range of tyres

ENVE has added the Raceday to its SES range of tyres, which it claims saves weight and rolling resistance compared to the standard SES model.

These performance gains lead to a tyre that, according to ENVE, is the “fastest SES tyre ever made, and one of the outright fastest on the market”.

The new tyre, which comes in only 27mm and 29mm options, is designed to run tubeless and is compatible with hooked and hookless rims.

Compared to the previous SES tyre, the American brand has cut 75 grams per size, bringing the weight down to 195 grams for the 27mm option and 210 grams for the 29mm option, while also saving an average of 6.5 watts of rolling resistance.

While the claimed improvements are significant, the price of the tyre has also increased, with the SES Raceday coming in at $100.

Raceday: All-out performance

Considering the name, it’s not too surprising that the new addition to the SES range is race-orientated with a focus on all-out performance.

“The SES Race Day is what the name implies - a tyre developed for the days when you pin on the number and every second counts,” ENVE said in a press release. “With up to an 8.5-watt improvement in rolling resistance, and up to 75 grams of weight savings per tyre over the standard SES, the Race Day is a game-changer.”

Beyond the weight-saving and rolling resistance improvements, the tyre benefits from an aerodynamic shape and tread pattern, while losing out on some of the puncture resistance and durability of the standard SES model.

ENVE says it is constructed from a nano-technology-enhanced rubber compound and a “novel” casing cover, although it hasn’t specified further details for these.

With the discussions around hookless technology, it is also worth noting that the new offering is not only compatible with hookless rims, but has a recommended pressure range of 50-85 psi for the 27mm option and 40-80 psi for the 29mm. Both of those values are significantly higher than the ETRTO safety standard of 73 psi for hookless rims.

This figure has been in the spotlight recently following a few hookless-related incidents in the WorldTour peloton and the UCI issued its first set of guidelines on the subject of hookless rims and tubeless tyres on Thursday.

The release also continues what has been a busy few months for ENVE, whose bikes entered the pro peloton in 2024 at the hands of TotalEnergies. The French outfit is also using the American brand's wheels and tyres, the latter being the Raceday which has tasted plenty of action over the opening months of the season before its official release.
