The last few years have been marked by a seemingly eternal battle between the sport’s governing body, the UCI, and manufacturers seeking to test out their latest and greatest bits of kit in the WorldTour. Whether it be aerodynamic handlebars or dropper seat posts, brands are determined to develop new tech and put it to the ultimate test at the highest level of competition, a practice which the UCI does not always look favourably upon.
The most recent wave of bans from the UCI is discussed on this week’s episode of the GCN Tech Show, as Manon and Ollie look at the clampdown on prototype equipment ahead of this summer’s Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift.
Talking of not yet commercially available tech, we have also spotted the most hotly-anticipated unreleased pair of sunglasses in the professional peloton, worn, of course, by Geraint Thomas.
We take a look at the new SunGod glasses which have been designed in partnership with the WorldTour’s most notable eyewear connoisseur, as well as the new lightweight Specialized Allez and the most expensive Colnago ever.
Tune in to this week’s GCN Tech Show for all this and the usual favourites, Comments of the Week and Bike Vault.
