Cofidis Women Team

Entering their third season as a UCI Continental side, the women's Cofidis team will be hoping to take their first WorldTour victory in 2024, having shown themselves in some of the sport's biggest races over the past two years.

Debuting in 2022 with a budget of €1 million, Cofidis rode races such as Trofeo Alfredo Binda, Tour de Suisse Women and Paris-Roubaix Femmes. It was the latter which was a big goal of the team upon their unveiling, along with a future start at the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift. 

Tasked with overseeing the new women's project, Cédric Vasseur was determined to make sure the team had lofty ambitions and did not rely solely on French talent. In turn, the team's two star riders for its first two seasons were the German Clara Koppenburg and Australia's Rachel Neylan. 

Two years after the team was first announced, Cofidis made their Tour de France Femmes debut in 2023 and it was Koppenburg who showed the team's colours in a long breakaway on stage 5. The team were unable to take a big result, but will hope to build on their five season victories in 2024. 

Despite losing Neylan and Koppenburg at the end of 2023 to retirement and EF Education-Cannondale, respectively, Cofidis have invested in their ambitious squad for 2024, bringing in Sarah Roy from Canyon-SRAM as a new leader. 

The Australian will be joined by the likes of Hannah Ludwig and Kirstie van Haaften as Cofidis aim to continue their pitch to become a Women's WorldTeam in the near future.

Full list of 22 teams announced for 2024 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift

A little under four months from the start of this year's 

, race organisers ASO have confirmed the full list of teams who will be competing across the eight stages from Rotterdam to Alpe d'Huez. 

 will be in attendance, ensuring that the likes of 

 will contend for the prized yellow jersey captured by 

 among others. Meanwhile, the world's best sprinters will be expected to race, such as 

Joining the 15 WorldTeams on the start list will be seven 

, two of whom have earned the right on the basis of past performance, with the other five handed invitations to race. The headline inclusion is probably 

, who are in their first year of competition but had been vocal about their desire to be invited. 

Tashkent City Women Professional Cycling Team

 are the two Continental teams who finished highest in the UCI's rankings last season, offering themselves automatic invites to all WorldTour events this season.

The financial backing of Cofidis has recently 

, while the inclusion of Tashkent City will raise a few eyebrows. They will become the first team from Central Asia to compete in the Tour de France Femmes and found themselves in the top two of last year's rankings following the demise of EF Education-TIBCO-SVB and the merger between Liv Racing TeqFind and Jayco AlUla. 

Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift 2024 route revealed

Hailing from the capital city of Uzbekistan, Tashkent City were primarily racking up points in a bid to gain the country's qualification into this summer's Olympic Games, something which they comfortably achieved. As a result of the country's focus on the Olympics, the team has raced a stripped-back campaign in 2024, with their riders mainly focused on track events. 

But the team will be in attendance at the Tour de France Femmes, as will the teams of Arkéa-B&B Hotels, Laboral Kutxa-Fundación Euskadi, Lotto Dstny Ladies and St Michel-Mavic-Auber93, all of whom have received invites alongside EF Education-Cannondale. 

Where the 2024 Tour de France Femmes will be won

The third edition of the Tour de France Femmes will take place this summer from 12-18 August, beginning in Rotterdam for the Grand Départ and ending with a first-ever visit to Alpe d'Huez on stage 8. It will be a mountainous double-header on the final weekend, with stage 7 finishing atop Le Grand-Bornand.

Cofidis commit to title sponsorship of men's and women's teams through 2028

Cofidis, one of the longest-standing title sponsors in professional cycling, has extended its commitment to its 

 and paracycling teams through 2028, which will bring its tenure with the men’s French WorldTeam to 32 years.

Having already been signed to title sponsorship through 2025, the consumer credit company has agreed a deal to continue sponsoring all three teams for a further three seasons, with its ambitions outlined as getting closer to the top 10 in the men’s WorldTour and having its women’s outfit promoted to the 

. The next cycle of promotion and relegation is at the end of 2025.

“There is a history and a strong internal attachment between Cofidis and cycling that makes our teams proud. From the beginning, our values have echoed those of this sport. Following in the path of our riders, cycling is a reality for many of our employees, whether in commuting or leisure,” 

said Gilles Sauret, president of Cofidis Group

Whilst the Cofidis women’s team is in only its third season of competition, the men’s WorldTeam has been active since 1997 and is one of cycling’s most historic teams. A former home to stars such as Bobby Julich, Frank Vandenbroucke and David Millar, the team has also championed its domestic talents, with Nacer Bouhanni and

UCI confirms WorldTour and ProTeam licences for 2024 season

The full list of UCI teams is largely as expected, with a couple of surprises in the mix

UCI has confirmed the official line-up of WorldTour and ProTour teams for the men’s and women's pelotons

, with no changes to the men’s WorldTour, but two teams stepping up to Women’s WorldTour level for 2024.

 is the main talking point, whilst the UCI also confirmed which ProTeams and women’s Continental squads will receive automatic WorldTour race invites next season.

The most notable changes come in the Women’s WorldTour line-up, with this year marking a promotion and demotion year in the women’s peloton. However, due to the closure of the EF Education-TIBCO-SVB team and the merger between Jayco-AlUla and Liv Racing TeqFind, there was in fact no demotion, with top-ranked Continental teams AG Insurance-Soudal Quick-Step and Ceratizit-WNT being awarded the two free WorldTour licences.

also applied for a spot in the WorldTour but missed out due to their lower ranking compared to AG Insurance and Ceratizit-WNT.

, a Continental team from Uzbekistan, has earned invitations to all the Women’s WorldTour races in 2024 as the second-best ranked Continental squad, outside of those being promoted. For reference, the other team receiving an invitation to all the WorldTour races is 

, a team that earned 1,975 UCI points. Tashkent City, conversely, earned 1,703 points, with most coming away from European racing.

Absent from the Women’s WorldTour will be the new 

 team, who were unable to take over the licence from the outgoing EF Education-TIBCO-SVB squad and, as a new team, were not in contention for one of the promotion spots.

On the men's side, the only real change comes in the form of the loss of the Australian ProTeam Bolton Equities Black Spoke and the American ProTeam Human Powered Health. Only one team will be replacing the two outgoing squads, with the TDT-Unibet squad ascending to the ProTour level.

The 18 WorldTour teams remain the same, with the men’s current promotion/relegation cycle ending at the end of 2025, where licences will change hands based on rankings.

 will have automatic wild-card invitations to all the WorldTour races in 2024 as the two highest-performing ProTeams in 2023, while 

, as they will be known in 2024, will receive invitations to all the one-day races on the WorldTour.
