Anna Shackley (SD Worx) is one of the new climbing prospects in the peloton. The 22-year-old from Scotland came up through the British Cycling system, and was signed by SD Worx in 2021 as a relative unknown. Her first year in the WorldTour was highlighted by being selected for the Tokyo Olympics, one of only two British riders in the road race, the other being Lizzie Deignan.

Shackley’s development at SD Worx has been steady, usually joining the climbing contingent of the team and racing alongside Niamh Fisher-Black. In 2022, she showed her ability on the bigger climbs by finishing 11th on the Queen stage of the Tour de Romandie, which finished on the 2,000m-high climb to Thyon. At the start of 2023, Shackley took her best GC result when she finished fourth overall at the UAE Tour. She is currently signed with SD Worx through to the end of 2024, with the team clearly having faith in the young Scot’s potential.
