Ricarda Bauernfeind

Ricarda Baurnfeind (Canyon-SRAM) was one of the revelations of 2022 and cemented that by winning a stage of the 2023 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift.

Signed as one of the first riders on Canyon-SRAM’s development team, Canyon-SRAM Generation - which aims not just to develop riders, but to support riders from less-represented nations - Bauernfeind was the stand-out rider in their ranks in 2022. The German excelled at the Tour des Pyrénées and the Tour de l’Ardèche, two of the hardest races on the non-WorldTour calendar. She also claimed the under-23 German time trial title, actually going faster than elite winner Lisa Klein on the same course.

All of this earned her a promotion from the development team to the Canyon-SRAM WorldTour team for 2023, alongside compatriot Antonia Niedermaier. The 23-year-old was handed leadership opportunities in 2023 and repaid the team's faith in impressive fashion, most notably when she was let up the road on stage 5 of the Tour de France Femmes. She went on to win the stage and prove exactly why she was strong enough to move up to the elite squad.
