Sam Welsford is an Australian professional cyclist who currently races for the Bora-Hansgrohe team. He turned professional on the road with DSM in 2022, and joined Bora-Hansgrohe at the start of 2024 on a two-year deal.

An Olympic Games bronze medalist on the track from Tokyo 2020, Welsford has transitioned onto the road and since 2022 has become a sprint specialist.

Although a relatively late-comer to the WorldTour scene, Welsford has already turned heads with a couple of early wins in 2023 at the Vuelta a San Juan in Argentina and a second place finish in Scheldeprijs. He made his Tour de France debut in 2023.

Welsford is also a former world champion in the men’s team pursuit and a former world record holder.
