Floortje Mackaij

Floortje Mackaij (Movistar) is only 28, but is a rider who has been racing - and winning - for over a decade now, and is one of the most well-respected names in the peloton. Signing for Argos-Shimano - the team that is now dsm-firmenich - in 2013 as a junior stagiaire, Mackaij spent nine full seasons on the team before making a move to Movistar for 2023. A talented rider from very young, she took her first big win in 2015 when she won Gent-Wevelgem at only 19.

These days, Mackaij is something of an all-rounder, doing best on medium-hilly parcours. With her experience, she is also an invaluable road captain. Sitting somewhere in between the categories of powerful Belgian Classics rider and pure climber, Mackaij is best suited to hillier one-days, and working for teammates or going for stages in stage races.

Now in her second year at Movistar, Mackaij has definitely taken on a more team-centred role within her new squad, but still picked up a win in 2023 and will be hoping for a few more of her own chances in 2024.
