Rui Costa is a veteran professional rider who races for the EF Education-EasyPost team.

Hailing from Portugal, Costa has been a professional since 2009. He was part of the Caisse d’Epargne team - which later became the Movistar Team - before joining Lampre Merida and then UAE Team Emirates. In 2023 he signed a one-year contract with Intermarché-Circus-Wanty.

Costa took the biggest win of his career in 2013 when he won the men’s road race at the UCI Road World Championships. He has also won three editions of the Tour de Suisse, three stages of the Tour de France, and the Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal.

He won his first race in Intermarché colours at the Trofeo Calvia in January 2023, before following that up with a stage win and the overall at the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana. He closed his season out with a stage win at the Vuelta a España and another victory at the Japan Cup. In October of 2023, he signed a one-year deal with Jonathan Vaughters' EF Education-EasyPost squad for 2024.
