The Critérium du Dauphiné is the major warm-up ahead of the Tour de France and a strong marker of form heading into the biggest bike race of the year.
This week we look at five riders with a point to prove at this week’s race, plus one of the most nail-biting stage finishes in recent memory with Christophe Laporte (Jumbo-Visma) taking a spectacular stage on the opening day of racing.
The GCN Racing News show recaps the performance before going into a deep dive into the importance of the Dauphiné in relation to the Tour de France.
Presenter Joe Timms also picks out five riders to watch at the Dauphiné, with a mix of GC riders and stage hunters making the cut.
One rider on Joe's list is Richard Carapaz. The EF-Education EasyPost leader started the Dauphiné in fine form after a recent win and will be looking to build on that form before heading to the Tour de France where he will hope to challenge for the podium. Joe also pinpoints race favourite Jonas Vingegaard and discusses the depth within the Jumbo-Visma team.
There's also plenty of time to look at the upcoming race schedules of Primož Roglič (Jumbo-Visma), Remco Evenepoel (Soudal QuickStep) and Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates).
We also wrap up the racing action from the Tour of Norway, the Brussels Cycling Classic, and the Vuelta a Andalucía.
