This guy hates gravel bikes - can we change his mind?
Conor takes GMBN’s Rich Payne on a gravel adventure

It’s fair to say that GMBN’s Rich Payne isn’t a fan of gravel bikes. In his own words, a gravel bike is "an inadequate mountain bike and an oversized, heavy road bike."
A flat-bar fanatic, he’d much rather shred local trails on his full-suspension mountain bike than ever head out on a gravel adventure. But we can’t understand why.
The world of gravel riding has exploded over the last ten years, leading to lots of new bikes, tech and events. Gravel bikes allow riders to head on long, off-road adventures that would never be possible on a road bike, and they’ve opened up a new world of routes and adventures.
A world we think Rich is missing out on, so we decided to try and convert him. Can we turn a mountain bike snob into a gravel fan?
Conor Dunne was the best man for the job and we tasked him with taking Rich on a gravel adventure on local routes. He’s had plenty of success with this type of challenge before, recently converting the sceptical Ollie Bridgewood into a bikepacking fan (as seen below).
Would Conor’s conversion streak continue? Watch the video to find out.
